At Asbury they had a bell to signal the start and end of class. The first day I heard it I laughed and said are you kidding me.

Do you have a bathroom pass?

We had a discussion in bible study how we called our teachers by their first names at Fox, so there wasn't even hand raising in college for us!! Tim says that in his class they raise their hand and talk at the same time- so that's what computer geeks do in grad school...

No bells or bathroom passes...

No computer geeks either...

We only have 11 people in our cohort, so hand-raising isn't really needed because we're basically sitting in a circle, and group discussion don't really lend themselves to waiting for the teacher to call on you.

Oh, and about the first name thing. I'm so used to that from Fox that I asked on the first day what the teacher would like us to call her. "Would you like us to call you Joan, or Dr. Brown?" Then I realized she probably wasn't happy with me since she wasn't a Dr. and thought I was rubbing it in. Joan it is...
